WRIST INJURIES

up to £3000

Wrist Injuries - are a common injury and can occur in many situations. In Road Traffic Accidents they can be caused by the direct impact of a collision, the wrist can suffer trauma by getting tangled in the violent movement of the steering wheel at the point of impact.

Slip & Trip Accidents it is the wrist that is often used to break the fall. These type of injuries can be quite severe and one of the worse injuries is a 'spiral fracture', this is typical of a break when the hand and arm are out stretched to break a fall and all the body weight when falling is concentrated onto the wrist.

Other wrist injuries are a little less clear cut in terms of claiming compensation but can all the same be serious and debilitating. The wrist is most susceptible to gradual injury caused by repetitive movement and the repetitive movement can cause muscle, nerve and tendon damage which can lead to such conditions as tenosynovitis, tendinitis and carpal tunnel syndrome.

These conditions can be very painful and debilitating, the cause of the conditions can be brought on by the job you do at work. For example, someone who has been operating a computer keyboard for many years may suffer any of the aforementioned conditions. People who also carry out heavy manual tasks without sufficient breaks or job rotation are particularly at risk of contracting one or other of the repetitive strain type conditions.

Whilst Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI) are actionable it can be very difficult to prove causation in these matters. The reason for this is that the all of the conditions can also be brought on by natural degeneration that occurs with age, proving that the condition is a consequence of your employment can be sometimes difficult.

However, if you think that you have this type of injury then you should not delay in seeking expert advice as to give you every chance of pursuing your claim evidence will have to be quickly and carefully gathered.
